Cainon Coates has worked in the startup ecosystem for the past 20 years as an entrepreneur, advisor, and investor. Most recently, he co-founded & hosted the Island AI Summit in partnership with Sir Richard Branson. He previously served as a Managing Partner at Alumni Ventures, one of the most active venture investors in the world with over $1B AUM and a portfolio of 1,500+ companies; Cainon led the MIT fund and was responsible for over $150M deployed across 200+ deals.

Previously, he co-founded several companies, including: 

• Viafy (acquired by Constellation Software [TSX:CSU])
• Human Design Medical (merged with Breas Medical of General Electric [NYSE:GE])
• University Laundry (acquired by a national operator, then Procter & Gamble’s Tide [NYSE: PG])

He earned his MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and a BS from the University of Virginia in Systems and Information Engineering.
